Tasting note
The 2012 Cinq Cepages is plump, juicy and forward. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, licorice, menthol, mocha and dark spices are all pushed forward. This is a decidedly radiant, supple Cinq Cepages that should provide readers with a good decade-plus of fine drinking. As always, Cinq Cepages is bold, racy and fruit-driven in style. Drinking window: 2017-2026. Score - 93. (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Feb. 2016)
This dry and ruby coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing animal, empyreumatic, spicy, fruity and vegetal scents. You will be charmed with this full-bodied wine revealing a broad texture, fleshy tannins and a long finish.
Inviting aromas of boysenberry and violet define the nose of this flagship Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. A rich and dense entry begins with layers of black raspberry, mocha and hints of blueberry. The palate offers a graceful balance between fruit extract and fine-grained tannins. This deep, concentrated wine has a classic Cinq Cépages structure with beautiful oak integration and a lushness throughout that leads to a lingering finish. 90 Wine Advocate
Opaque purple core with bright reddish purple rim. Syrupy nose, with lots of vanilla, and ripe dark fruit, and some cedar coming in from behind. After a while, I noted some nutmeg aroma. This wine was medium bodied, dry, with supple tannins and silky smooth mouth feel. Dark plum, ripe dark fruit and chocolate with a slightly puckering finish. Medium plus length.
