Tasting note
This golden elixir has been made by the Torres family since 1946. It is akin to France's Vin du Naturel, in Spain called Vino di Licor. It is made from Muscat de Alejandría grapes that have not been fermented, and must from the pressings is fortified with distilled wine to bring the alcohol up to 15%. This heady, orange oil and honey blossom sip finishes with candied mandarine and a gentle whiff of clove - and does double duty as an aprés (the Spanish don't eat dinner until 10pm after all) or dessert wine. Sip along Spanish blue Valdéon or Cabrales and some roasted marcona almonds. Bliss. Score - 90. (Treve Ring, winealign.com, May 24, 2014)
Characteristic Mediterranean dessert wine - nectar with an unmistakable floral perfume and a voluptuous and sensual palate.
