Tasting note
This is a very sleek and racy wine with lots of stone, white pepper and fresh rosemary character. Then takes off with dried ripe fruits such as currants and blueberries. Dark chocolate too. This a real mouthful yet remains agile and powerful. Linear and long finish. Great precision. Best ever from Guado al Tasso? Score - 97. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, March 2016)
This dry ruby coloured wine features intense woody, empyreumatic, fruity and vegetal scents and offers a broad texture as well as fleshy tannins.
Very polished yet wild. Ripe and decadent, with spice, meat and fruit. Full-bodied, with thick, velvety tannins and a long, flavourful finish. A full-throttle red. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
On the nose the wine shows elegant notes of toasted oak, coffee, and spices followed by aromas of plums and black currants. On the palate, the initial impact is soft but firm with a vein of acidity which gives greater freshness and crispness than usual. The tannins are extremely elegant and the aftertaste is very persistent, with sustained and lingering notes of the coffee, berry fruit, and toasted oak first perceived on the nose. It is a vintage with a great aging potential.
98 points – Wine Enthusiast. Here's a "wow" wine on every level, with incredible intensity and supple softness that builds momentum to a long finish.
