Tasting note

The palate effortlessly displays the famed attributes of great Liqueur Tawny; luscious, rich and full flavoured with mouthfilling viscosity and a slightly dry finish. Intense raisined fruit, walnut and toffee flavours harmonise with subtle vanillin oak.

Medium pale tawny colour with a greenish yellow rim. A superlative complexity of old leather and smoky, raisiny notes with a twinge of volatile acidity helping lift it all and carry it.

A six barrel-stack solera system allows consistency of style for Penfolds’ Grandfather Rare Tawny. This fractional blending translates to wine with an average age of more than 15 years and exuberant, concentrated flavours with nuttiness and spice. A dessert all on its own!
