Tasting note
Mostly from the Pinhão Valley and Rio Torto, 40% old mixed vines - dense with rich, ripe, cherry-stone fruit quite hefty for Warre. Stunningly good. Drink: 2030-2050. Score - 96. (Richard Mayson, decanter.com, March 5, 2014)
Under the purplish red colour, the nose is intense and complex. Enjoy this sweet and fruity red featuring refreshing acidity. On the palate, it showcases fleshy tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel that leads into a long finish.
Warre's 2011 vintage shows the deep opaque purple colour of youth. The wine is layered with aromas of sweet blackberry fruit and typically perfumed floral hints of rockrose and fresh viollets. On the palate, Warre's 2011 Vintage has great finesse and balance, with traces of minerality running through the silky tannic backbone, leading to a long velvety finish.
Visually it exhibits deep opaque purple colour of youth. Aromatically, layers of sweet blackberry fruit are intertwined with hints of fresh violets. Flavours of kirsch, chocolate, dark plum and allspice are intertwined with a silky tannic backbone, leading to a long velvety finish. Simply stunning.
