Tasting note
Bright amber colour; biscuit, orange peel and pine resin aromas and flavours; medium-bodied and moderately carbonated, there is a candied citrus and floral hop bitterness on the finish.
Hoptical Illusion approaches the characteristics of a pale ale, but takes a quick u-turn at the end. Beyond the provocative citrus and floral essences that resonate from the Amarillo's small, tight cone is a subtle but unique maltiness blended from amber kiln and roasted specialty malts.
The citrusy hoppiness hits you initially, but is quickly replaced with lingering notes of honey and sweet malts. The fruity finish hints of licorice, but the grapefruit gains ground as it gradually becomes more bittering toward the end of each sip. Then 'poof' there's a slow fade of hop on the finish.
