Tasting note
Golden amber colour; hoppy, citrus and honey aromas with yeasty, biscuit flavours.
The initial aroma shockwave that hits your face is the explosive Citra hops with citrusy, piney and tropical aromas. Then the bitter hop flavour is trailed by the blooming of bready malts balancing the dry atomic burn.
This beer is the happy accident resulting from the brewers experiment in burst hopping, or the theory of casting hops at every possible stage of the brewing process would yield complete totality in hop aroma while offering a controlled and still enjoyable bitterness. Smashbomb has a huge blast of Citra hops (a new hybrid hop variety with a high alpha acid of 11% giving it lots of tropical fruit flavours and aromas). Along with the hops is a strong malt backbone with. The first taste is definitely bitter but then the malty balance rolls in and the atomic flash of hoppiness has a dry, slow burn which lingers in the finish. 6% alc, 70 IBU’s
