Tasting note
Medium amber in colour; very forward and typically 'Islay' nose, with peat smoke, medicinal, honeyed, spirit, waxy and woody notes; the palate is smoky, yet sweet, with honeyed character balancing any smoky bitterness; cocoa and sweet Sherry round out the flavours; on the finish, peaty and smoky notes linger.
The Amontillado barrels give it a rich burnt orange color. The nose starts off with dusty, gentle cinnamon hints and the distinctive lemon zest. This moves into earthy figs and dates before nutty, creamy brazil nuts come to the fore. This complex nose then changes with elements of carbolic soap before finally finishing with a lovely lingering salted liquor ice not.
