Medium amber colour; aromas of sea-spray, herbs, black pepper and caramel; medium-bodied, with earthy and spicy flavours; notes of orange zest and peat smoke lead to a finish that is is long and complex.
The nose is very pungent and full. Notes of sour citrus develop with rich peat smoke. Hints of peppered oak and notes sea spray pounding stones and a little kelp. The palate is thick and full. Creamy manuka honey and lemon juice, notes of peppered oak and spice, a little butter perhaps and plenty of dry wood. The finish is long with black pepper and dry oak.
No whisky reveals the character of its birthplace better than Talisker. To know Talisker is to feel the power of the sea and sense its rugged location on the banks of Loch Harport, on the foreboding Isle of Skye.
APRIL 2014 Insider Pick from Adele Shaw, Portfolio Manager for Spirits, Fortified, Fruit, South African and Asian Wines: "A relatively new release from this Isle of Skye distillery. The Storm is an intense whisky with smoky, briny notes that are balanced by sweetness and a smooth finish. Serve straight or with a splash of water to open up the aromatics of this vibrant whisky."
