Tasting note

(the percentage of new oak for this wine is now down to 25%): Bright, dark red. Redcurrant, black cherry, ripe strawberry and spices on the nose. Inviting sweet red fruit flavors are complicated by earth, licorice and menthol and a subtle oakiness. Delivers a very attractive combination of sweet and savory for a wine in its price range. Creamy fruit is firmed by smooth tannins. Clearly sweeter than the 2014 version and a terrific value. Drinking window: 2016-2018. Score - 89. (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, March 2016)
