Tasting note
The 2008 Gran Reserva begins with gorgeous aromatics of black tea, black cherry, and coffee grounds. The palate has nice weight with flavors of red cherry, red currant, pipe tobacco, black olive and hints of baking spices. This has lovely weight on the mid-palate and the lively acidity suggests this will be a long-ager. This is an excellent effort from this more than challenging vintage in Rioja. (Best 2016-2027). Score - 92. (internationalwinereport.com, Dec., 2016 )
Bright red cherry colour. Aromas of ripe fruit, plums, raisins, figs, combined with coffee, chocolate and torrefacts coming from the oak ageing. Sensations of ripe and sweet tannins in the mouth. Elegant, voluptuous, well balanced, pleasant and persistent.
