Tasting note
Sourced from four different vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley (with the latter origin dominating the blend), this is made up of 75 lots and is a seamless, aromatic cuvée from the brilliant Alejandro Vigil. Violets and lavender on the nose segue into flavours of blueberry and blackberry. Score - 93. (Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, March 2016)
This dry and purplish red coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing animal, spicy, floral, fruity and mineral scents. You will be charmed with this full-bodied wine revealing a broad texture, fleshy tannins and a long finish.
"In 2011, more than 70 percent of Catena's Alta Malbec comes from vineyards in Gualtallary and Altamira, in the elevations of the Uco Valley. This vintage is particularly bright and youthful, the firm red fruit flavours seemingly lit from within."
