Tasting note
The 2014 The Hermit Crab Marsanne/Viognier reveals a lovely white peach, lychee, baker's yeast and jasmine nose lifted with some white roses and allspice notes. Medium-bodied, the satiny palate shows great intensity with just enough racy acidity adding to the good length. Drink: 2015-2018. Score - 90. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, robertparker.com, Aug. 2015)
This dry straw yellow coloured wine features medium empyreumatic and fruity scents and offers a full-bodied texture.
The nose is expressive and rich with orange peel, candied ginger, apricot, and citrus notes. The Marsanne shows itself in the peach and nutty complexity which is married nicely with an appealing straw like character. The palate has a lovely balance of sweetness, palate weight, and acidity. Lemon and lime characters are prominent on the palate with a lively granny smith apple acidity providing great focus.
Tight, spicy and appealing, with pear and lychee flavors, well-modulated to fly smoothly on the medium-weight frame. Shows impressive persistence on the finish. This product is a featured Insider Pick from our expert Kim, for July 2015.
