Tasting note
Matured in 50/50% French and American oak (8% new) for 20 months. It's odd how the co-fermentation of viognier can appear to intensify the regional signature, it's certainly written large here, but there's a spark of fresh fruit with a different pitch to its note. All this adds up to an impressive example of this key wine in the d'Arenberg menagerie. Special Value. Drink By: 2032. Score - 95. (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Oct. 6, 2016)
Under the ruby colour, the nose is intense and complex. Enjoy this dry, full-bodied and fruity red featuring refreshing acidity. On the palate, it showcases fleshy tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel that leads into a long finish.
Exuberant, deep purple hue. Opulently flavoured and perfumed with firm texture and ripe tannins. Viognier lifts the rich, ripe Shiraz fruits and gives them resonance.
Deep crimson-colored with an alluring bouquet of cedar, lilacs, Asian spices, black cherry, and blueberry. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and layered with savory fruit. 91 Pts Wine Advocate
