Tasting note

On the nose, restrained but complex dark fruit characteristics predominate. Blackcurrant and black cherry fruit leads, with a hint of prune and clove oak spice also featuring in the bouquet of this 2009 Mezzacorona Teroldego Rotaliano Riserva. Dry and verging on full bodied in the mouth, this 2009 Mezzacorona Teroldego Rotaliano Riserva manages to balance austere tannins, snappy acidity and relatively savoury dark fruit flavours really rather well indeed. Imbued with an impressively well resolved and soft mouthfeel, this 2009 Mezzacorona Teroldego Rotaliano Riserva is perhaps not a ripe and crowd pleasing style, but it is a wonderful expression of a traditionally vinified Teroldego. Suitable for drinking now with hearty red meat dishes, this 2009 Mezzacorona Teroldego Rotaliano Riserva could also be cellared for five years or more. Score - 89.
