Tasting note
Really well balanced, complex and fragrant. Succulent. Modest, integrated wood influence. Good stuff. Tasted Blind at the NWACs, June 2015. Score - 90. (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, July 29, 2015)
Well composed blend of merlot, syrah, cab franc and cab sauv. It's built in a structured fashion, with plenty of dense, dark fruit and measured oak influence; the finish is long and savoury.
Quatrain by contrast opts for less Merlot (34%) in the 2008 and more Syrah (29%), Cabernet Franc (22%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). Vineyard sources are from the southern Okanagan including down at Osoyoos right on the United States border. A very tightly knit wine, there is telltale BC spice & sage along with some roasted character combining with a core of fruit marked by a brightness of acidity.
