Tasting note
Aromas of ripe black currant, spice, pressed violet, scorched earth and a whiff of cedar emerge on this boldly structured red. The full-bodied palate delivers dried blackberry, raisin, licorice and chewing tobacco, accompanied by firm, chewy tannins. A black pepper note signals the close. Score - 92. (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 31, 2015)
Tenuta Lena di Mezzo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico has a clean bouquet reminiscent of sour black cherries and plum jam, liquorice and leather. The body is complex and intense, dry and velvety, full-bodied, generous, and stern.
Produced in 55 year old indigenous native vines from Custoza in the Verona region, Italy, this wine is extremely elegant, well-balanced and velvety. It is at the same time robust, complex, dry, full-bodied, generous and austere. Pairs perfectly with braised meats and mature cheeses.
