Tasting note
Medium to deep garnet colour. Pretty perfume of freshly crushed raspberries/blackberries with nuances of wet leaves, cinnamon and white pepper. The medium to full bodied palate provides a good concentration of juicy berry fruit countered by medium to high acidity and a medium level of velvety tannins. Wonderfully balanced. Long finish with notes of white pepper. 13.4% alcohol. Drink 2010-2030. Tasted August 2009. Score - 94. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, erobertparker.com, Nov. 2009)
On the nose are red fruits, leather, truffles and musk leading to palate flavours of spices, pepper and licorice.
Aromas of figs, red fruit and cooked meat juices, The mouth is soft and round and full-bodied. Great freshness for this hot vintage. Great ageing potential.
95 points – Anthony Gismondi. There is Châteauneuf and then there is Beaucastel - one of the top ten bottles made in the region of hundreds. A superb, full-bodied red that will hold up for the ages.
