Tasting note
An elegant, perfumed, restrained Merlot from Quails' Gate offering a very Bordelaise/St Emilion like character with some savory sea salt and beautiful floral aromatics. A sophisticated buy. Score - 90. (Sara d'Amato, winealign.com, March 2013)
This dry garnet coloured wine features medium woody, spicy, fruity and vegetal scents and offers a broad texture as well as fleshy tannins.
Aromas of ripe plum, blackcurrant and chocolate with hints of spice and sweet tobacco.
Fragrant aromas of brambly blackberry, blueberry and dried rose petals mingle with spicy dustings of clove and cracked black pepper. This supple wine is inky, complex and robust enough to see you through the coldest winter. A very versatile food wine.
