Tasting note
This release of Hamilton Gumprs Shiraz is back to the form it showed with the 2006 vintage release. Stunning value. Rich, serious, smooth-textured shiraz with structure and length. Blackberries and chocolate, plums and vanilla. Touch of warmth on the finish but nothing to worry about. A ripper. Drink: 2010-2015. Score - 94. (Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au, Dec. 1, 2009)
Full, dense red colour with vibrant scarlet highlights. Attractive spice and black pepper with savoury fruit notes enhanced through the elegant use of oak that has integrated to complement, rather than dominate, the nose. The palate shows definitive Shiraz flavours with the richness to be expected of a McLaren Vale wine. The tannins are tight and long with round texture, clean acidity and excellent persistence.
