Effusively aromatic and very much in the varietal register, Stags' Leap 2013 viognier delivers a solid dose of candied violets and cinnamon, orchard fruit and exotic spice. This is one of the best viogniers from the storied estate that I've had - the wines seem to get better here every year. Aromas of honeydew melon, citrus and floral notes on the nose as the crisp entry introduces flavors of white peach, honeysuckle and slight grapefruit. Vibrant acidity leads to a full mouthfeel featuring kiwi and key lime notes that transition to a long finish featuring fruit to the end.
