Tasting note
The honeysuckle aroma of this marsanne bursts out of the glass when swirled, perhaps a hint of jasmine or field flowers too. The palate lives up to the promise and then some: the variety is often sotto voce when young, but here it is exuberant, aided by chalky acidity. Drink by: 2035. Score - 95. This dry, medium-bodied and fruity white displays a simple and intense nose. On the palate, its refreshing acidity and broad texture precede a medium finish.
With a history of cultivating this varietal in Australia since the 1860s, Tahbilk's Marsanne exhibits intense flavours of peach, lemon cream, floral and a hint of savouriness. Dry and round on the palate, this medium-bodied wine pairs just as well as Chardonnays do, if not better! 92 points James Halliday
