Tasting note
The 2013 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Tre Saggi shows some burnt almond notes derived from the 12 months of aging in new oak. Those toasted notes are evident but they are also reasonably well integrated within the general textural richness and plushness of the wine. It presents a bold, memorable style. Fruit comes from the estate's best vineyard sites. Drink: 2015-2020. Score - 89. (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Sept. 2015)
Dark ruby-red with violet undertones. Complex wild berry notes framed by elegant oak spices. Blackcurrant, spicy cherry integrated with hazelnut and coffee. Perfect with red meats, game and aged sheep cheese.
This Montepulciano was designed by an absolute expert on barrel aging and oak toast. Dark chocolate, spice, clove and blackberry are presented in an incredibly soft and integrated fashion. (Diamond, Wine Enthusiast)
