Tasting note
Always a good Mediterranean Bordeaux blend, the 2010 Gran Coronas Mas la Plana Estate Black Label is the 40th release of this wine which has obviously changed over time, but has always been Cabernet Sauvignon-based. Loads of graphite, peat, pencil lead and ripe blackberries fused to undertones of tobacco, cedar wood and plenty of black pepper make it a textbook example of a warm-climate Cabernet in a perfectly ripe vintage. It has very fine, noble tannins and great acidity. This is one of the most balanced vintages of Mas La Plana I remember, and it should have a great development in bottle. Approachable now, it should age effortlessly for 20+ years. Drink Date: 2015-2030. Score - 93. (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, June 28, 2015)
This dry and garnet coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing empyreumatic, spicy, floral and fruity scents. You will be charmed with this full-bodied wine revealing a broad texture, fleshy tannins and a long finish.
Intense aroma together with notes of truffle, toast and wild berry conserve. Great body and breadth on the palate, with juicy tannins that become balanced and elegant.

September Insider Pick by Barbara Philip, Master of Wine, Portfolio Manager for Wines of Europe. We recently tried some older vintages of this iconic Spanish wine and were blown away by its cellaring potential. It rivals some of the best Bordeaux.
