Tasting note
Wakefield is the name used in North America by Australia's eminent Taylor family. Their Clare Valley Shiraz will offer great depth and richness with ripe blackberry, blueberry, black pepper and chocolate. Pair with lamb.
This dry and purplish red coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing woody, spicy and fruity scents. You will be charmed with this full-bodied wine revealing a full-bodied texture, fleshy tannins and a long finish.
The wine is dark and brooding in its youth with aromas of violets, plum and dark cherry along with dusty oak derived spice and vanilla adding complexity. The palate is rich, luscious and round with intense, perfectly ripen fruit characters. Dark chocolate and vanilla characters complement the generous red berry flavours. The wine has a well balanced structure with great texture and surprising delicacy to the finish.
A medium-bodied, Shiraz with supple, velvety tannins nicely balanced with the black fruit, baking spice and licorice notes. It finishes with finesse and focus that will complement sausage, duck or ribs. The palate is rich, luscious and round with intense, perfectly ripened fruit characters. Roasted coffee bean and subtle spice characters complement the generous fruit flavours. This Aussie Shiraz is medium- to full-bodied with a soft mid-palate and supple tannins. It has a well- balanced structure with great texture, good length and lashings of fruit on the finish. Wine Spectator - 90 Points Cellaring and Pairing Suggestions: This wine can be enjoyed upon release but will reward careful cellaring up to and possibly beyond 2017. Pair with pepper encrusted pork tenderloin with sauteed peppers and wild rice.
