Note de dégustation (anglais)
Made from golden Irish barley and pure spring water, triple distilled and aged in oak for smoothness. Very light and versatile and can be poured straight over ice or with a small amount of water.
The early floral yet biscuit flavour reflects the grain whiskey, while the soft spicy notes can be attributed to the pot still whiskey in the blend. The citrus flavour is contributed by the malt. Finally notice the nutty or even marzipan note combined with distinctive vanilla in the finish imparted by the sherry and bourbon casks used in maturation.
The nose shows a mild blend of spicy, lemony and malty notes, with charred wood and vanilla undertones. The warming palate of toasted wood, vanilla and hints of sweet spices is rounded out with light citrus fruitiness. Tullamore Dew’s particular taste character depends on the correct balance of mature whiskeys blended together. Medium amber gold in colour, the nose shows a mild blend of spicy, lemony and malty notes, with charred wood and vanilla undertones. The warming palate of toasted wood, vanilla and hints of sweet spices is rounded out with light citrus fruitiness. (Taste Magazine, Spring 2013)
