Tasting note
This has a gorgeous, still youthful nose that oozes blackberry/fig compote and spice, with background leather, cedar and anise. Classic maturing port aromas. It's full bodied, sweet of course, warm and rich on the palate with dusty tea-like tannins. Excellent length. Fine elegance here. An example of a less expensive 'single quinta' port delivering to a level that makes one question the value of 'vintage ports' twice the price. Best now to 2020+. Score - 93. Under the garnet colour, the nose is intense and complex. Enjoy this sweet and fruity red featuring refreshing acidity. On the palate, it showcases fleshy tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel that leads into a medium finish.
The Quinta da Cavadinha 1996 follows the classic Warre style, with very concentrated red and black fruit, with hints of Esteva. On the palate, a potent structure in harmony with the fruit, and with a long elegant finish. Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha 1996 due to its great depth of structure will undoubtedly be a wine to age for many years.
