Tasting note
In some ways (and somewhat counterintuitively) a modern Chianti Classico, this wine is 80% Sangiovese with about 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Spice box, violet, cherry, raspberry and smoke paint a vivid aromatic picture. The wine is youthful and structured, with dark cherry and blackberry flavours paving the way for a firm finish. Pair with steak Florentine or a selection of firmer cheeses. (Vintages panel, May 2017)
This dry ruby coloured wine features medium woody, spicy, fruity and vegetal scents and offers a broad texture as well as firm tannins.
Black cherry, toastiness with hints of coffee. Balanced, smooth tannins and a long finish.
90 points – Robert Parker. A gorgeous wine with sweet dark cherries, licorice and tobacco bursting from the glass in this big, hugely rewarding Chianti Classico. It is a terrific wine value. Rich aromas of ripe plum, berries, fresh herbs and mineral lead to a full-bodied palate, with plenty of fruit and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and measured. Delicious. Drink now. Pairs with osso bucco, lasagna, grilled vegetables or steak.
