Tasting note

The 2014 Cakebread Chardonnay is another spectacular showing from this storied estate. Aged in 31% new oak, bearing a moderate oak influence and aromatically reticent at first, this eventually yields gorgeous aromatics of orchard fruits, lemon zest, white grapefruit, brioche and suggestions of vanilla cream. On the palate there are tropical flavors of banana and pineapple accented by Marcona almond, white peach and crème brûlée. It continues to impress with its wonderful minerality and flavorful profile as it heads into the lingering finish. (Best 2016-2024) Score - 92. (internationalwinereport.com, December 2016)
