Tasting note
This winery deserves kudos for their remarkable cuvées of Fumé Blanc, all of which qualify as values. A fabulous bargain, the 2013 Fumé Blanc Sonoma (25,000 cases produced) is not put through malolactic, 70% is aged in stainless steel and 30% in older oak. It offers flowery, perfumed, melony, caramelized grapefruit and citrus notes, medium body, exuberant, fresh, lively fruit, and outstanding purity as well as texture. An incredible value, this beauty can be drunk over the next year or so. Drink: 2015-2016. Score - 90. (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Dec. 2014)
Under the greenish yellow colour, the medium and complex nose evokes woody, fruity and vegetal notes. On the palate, it offers a broad mouthfeel that leads into a long finish. Enjoy this dry, medium-bodied and fruity white featuring refreshing acidity.
Vibrant aromas of fresh Asian pear, sweet citrus and jasmine blossom jump from the glass. The nose leads to a refreshing palate with distinct Fumé Blanc flavors of juicy fruit and floral notes. The addition of Semillon to the blend adds a sweet red apple flavor to this refreshing and crisp wine. The finish is long and clean with a lemon zest note.
