Tasting note
The 2014 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Chimeres is mostly Grenache, yet includes 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Aged in a combination of concrete tank and demi-muid, it makes the most of this difficult vintage and have terrific purity in its raspberry, violet, licorice and olive-laced aromas and flavors. Ripe, nicely textured and with bright acidity, drink it over the coming 4-5 years. Score - 90-92. (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, April 26, 2015)
This dry, full-bodied and fruity red displays a complex and medium nose. On the palate, its refreshing acidity, fleshy tannins, and broad texture precede a long finish.
Made from mainly Grenache grapes grown on rocky schist soils, this wine has plush, dominant black fruit flavours with some tobacco notes. Its generous palate has firm tannins and a lengthy end. Think wild mushrooms, sage stuffing and rich, dark gravies.
