Tasting note

Muted scents of red berries, cherries, plums, spice, earth, maybe a whiff of herbs, it's a pleasing jumble of aromas. Chompy texture does well here, good tannin licks throughout, crisp acidity underlying, fruit is reserved but the wine gives good structure. Firm wine of quiet power. Score - 91. This dry and purplish red coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing woody, empyreumatic, fruity and vegetal scents. You will be charmed with this medium-bodied wine revealing a broad texture, smooth tannins and a medium finish.
SAQ
This is a blend. The term garagistes has been used to describe producers in Bordeaux making great wines in their “garage” outside of the “Appellation Controlée” system. d’Arenberg wines are all made in a small-batch processing and handson way (or feet, as the reds are all foot-trod) as the garagistes do. Their reds are all made in an old galvanized garage/winery; hence the name “Galvo” is quite fitting. The wine’s appearance is noticeably deep and dark, suggesting a complex full-bodied, oak matured wine. The aromas are classic Cabernet: notes of exotic dark plums, mulberry, blackcurrants, fragrant cassis and an underlying mix of dark chocolate, cherries and violets. The ripe palate has an impressive elegance. It’s extremely juicy with a wonderful, deep richness of fruit, fragrant dark chocolate and fine, lacy tannins. Cellaring and Pairing Suggestions: The 2007 Galvo Garage is a perfect candidate for mid-term cellaring. It is an ideal accompaniment to roast beef, roast fowl or venison.
