Tasting note
Florent Baumard grows this chenin on 15 acres of shale and sand over sandstone. The flavors touch on cool apple notes and soil-driven earthiness, but the wine is mostly about texture, luscious and deep, integrating some residual sugar so that it feels round but tastes savory. A pleasure to drink now, this will age well over the next five years. Score - 90. (Tasting panel, wineandspiritsmagazine.com, April 2016)
Golden yellow in colour, this white boasts a medium nose exuding floral, fruity and mineral aromas. Discover this medium-bodied wine expressing lively acidity and offering a full-bodied texture. It also unveils a medium mouthfeel that leads into a long finish.
I am a huge Chenin Blanc fan and Domaine Baumard is one of the world's best producers of it. Look for chamomile, hay and ripe apple flavours when you sip it with your turkey. (OCTOBER 2013 INSIDER PICK by Barbara Philip, Master of Wine, Portfolio Manager for European Wines)
