Tasting note
This ripe, dense red delivers base notes of humus, mocha and toasty oak supporting the rich cassis, black cherry and dark plum fruit character. There's fine tannins for support, but this is all rich fruit on the spicy finish. Drink now through 2018. Score - 94. (Nathan Wesley, winespectator.com, Oct. 15, 2012)
This dry, full-bodied and spicy red displays a complex and intense nose. On the palate, its refreshing acidity, fleshy tannins, and broad texture precede a long finish.
Fine, elegant and complex, firm tannins providing great volume and length. 94 Wine Spectator
Elegant and complex, with ripe red fruit, cedar, tobacco and chocolate notes. Well structured and nicely concentrated, and full-bodied. With long finish and good balance.
Featured in TASTE Magazine, Winter 2012 issue. Named for the Concha Y Toro winery founder, Don Melchor, this has become Chile’s best known icon wine since 1987. Flavours of currants, red fruit, cedar, tobacco and oak nuances give way to a powerful yet inviting palate of ripe fruit and tannins. While approachable now the track record suggests it can cellar up to 10 years or more.
