Tasting note
Another drop-dead gorgeous Champagne, the 1988 Extra Brut Millesime Blanc de Noirs covers every inch of the palate with tons of depth and pure richness. All the elements are simply in the right place. Sweet red berries, autumn leaves, tobacco and sweet spices come to life in the glass. At once fully mature yet wonderfully vivid, the 1988 is totally expressive today. Hints of incense and licorice develop in the glass, adding a dimension of exoticism that is beguiling. The raciness of the Pinot Noir comes through in spaces on the long, resonant finish. Readers who enjoy fine, mature Blanc de Noirs will find much to admire. Disgorgement date: July 6, 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. Score - 93. (Antonio Galloni, erobertparker.com, Nov. 2012)
