Tasting note
This new Speck Family Baco is the highest expression of the grape from the oldest vineyard blocks. It is an intriguing wine with a generous, almost piquant nose of blackcurrant fruit, rare roast beef, capers/herbs, coffee bean, pepper and grilled beets. It is quite full-bodied with firm, almost sour-edged baco acidity and very little tannin. Still, nicely structured. The length is excellent. It scores on complexity and depth. It may not be a style for all, but it is impressive. Reminds me of a more rustic southern French red. Best now to 2025. Tasted November 2016. Score - 91. (David Lawrason, winealign.com, Nov. 21, 2016)
