Tasting note
Aromas of ripe dark berry, exotic spice, tobacco and an anise note lead the nose on this intense wine. The succulent palate delivers layers of blackberry, raspberry, clove, licorice and allspice. Tightly-knit but velvety tannins provide support. Score - 91. (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, March 2015)
Intense red colour with garnet hints, to the nose fruity sensations of blackberry and black cherry. Basil and sweet spices due to its refinement in oak barrels. In the mouth it is smooth and balanced with a strong, never intruding tannin . Long last finish. Very good with roasted meats and ripe cheeses.
A very pretty, nuanced wine laced with wild cherries, plums, graphite and spices. Silky tannins frame an exceptional, elegant finish. This cask-aged Salice Salentino is a gem, not to mention an absolute steal for the money. (Wine Advocate, 90 Point)
