Tasting note
The 2008 Cortona Syrah Il Bosco comes across as quite focused and primary in this vintage, with layers of black fruit lurking beneath a wall of imposing tannin. The 2008 is a cool, inward Il Bosco that needs a few years in bottle before it begins to show the full breadth of its potential. For now, the wine's sheer depth and textural richness makes me think the future is bright. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023+. Score - 92+. (Antonio Galloni, robertparker.com, Aug. 2011)
This dry and purplish red coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing woody, empyreumatic, spicy and fruity scents. You will be charmed with this full-bodied wine revealing a full-bodied texture, firm tannins and a long finish.
Dense purple. Wonderful aromas of spices and sweet toasted oak that give way to layers of small red fruit, earthiness and mint flavors. Outstanding depth in a linear, pure style with a vibrant, generous personality, plenty of concentration and fine tannins. Serving Suggestions: Lamb Roast or grilled, aged Canadian cheddar, roast lamb and grilled thick cut steaks.
