Tasting note
This is crafted from the classic Valpolicella grapes Corvina and Rondinella with the ancient grape Oseleta. Masi was responsible for saving Oseleta from extinction, and Toar was the first wine to feature this traditional variety. Named for the volcanic soils in which the vines are situated, the 2013 offers dense and ripe dark fruit with additional layers of coffee and spice. Complex, rich and long, this will be a great barbecue wine - try it with grilled lamb or ribs. (Vintages panel, Oct. 2016)
Under the ruby colour, the nose is intense and complex. Enjoy this dry, full-bodied and woody red featuring light acidity. On the palate, it showcases firm tannins and a broad mouthfeel that leads into a long finish.
On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruit, particularly plums and cherries, and hints of vanilla. Tastes of plums and cherries, just like the nose. Powerful, elegant and attractive on the finish with hints of vanilla and liquorice.
