At the age of nearly five years, this 100% Cab remains as tannic and dry as the day it was bottled. A brilliant structure frames oak-infused black currant and crème de cassis flavors. Complex mineral and dried herb intricacies shift with every sip. It needs plenty of time. Begin to drink in 2017; it should develop well into the 2020s. Cellar Selection. Score - 94. Aurelio Montes, arguably one of Chile’s greatest wine producers, brings his love of Cabernet Sauvignon to California. Aurelio’s selection 2006 is a rich full-bodied expression of the ‘King of Red Grapes;’ softly aromatic with integrated fruit and oak notes; black cherry and licorice on a velvety smooth delivery. While the wine drinks well now, it will repay an investment of time with even more complexity and nuance.
