Tasting note
One of the most vibrant of the named Crus of the Coteaux du Languedoc, the wines of Picpoul de Pinet are produced exclusively from the ancient grape Picpoul Blanc. The name means 'lip-stinger,' in reference to the grape's exceptional acidity. This example is floral, with an attractive nose of orchard fruit, melon and mineral tones. Crisp and refreshing, the palate is lively and smooth with a great mineral backbone. Quite lovely. (Vintages panel, June 2014)
Under the greenish yellow colour, the light and complex nose evokes floral, fruity and mineral notes. On the palate, it offers a slender mouthfeel that leads into a short finish. Enjoy this dry, light and fruity white featuring refreshing acidity.
Brilliant pale gold on the eye. White flowers, passion fruit and citrus zest. Delicate and sophisticated in the mouth, it's a very well-balanced wine.
AUGUST 2014 Insider Pick from Barbara Philip MW, Portfolio Manager for European Wines: "Picpoul is what you drink in the south of France to cool down on a summer day. Minerally, lemony and brisk, it is a natural partner with oysters on the 1/2 shell." Few wines are as fresh and quenching as this Picpoul de Pinet. It is perfect as an aperitif with or without fresh seafood. This aromatic white from the Languedoc on the Mediterranean coast is a brilliant pale gold colour and bursting with scents of white flowers, passion fruit and citrus peel. Dry, fruity and lively in the mouth, this new varietal is ideal with grilled fish, seafood, rich cheese and charcuterie.
