Tasting note

The second label to flagship Osoyoos Larose, Pétales is meant to be drunk now, while waiting for the big brother to hit his prime. This is pretty serious as is, with chisled and serious black fruit, bitter cherry, espresso, smoked tobacco, medicinal cherry and grilled meats, tightly framed and structured. That said, amidst the drying, firm tannins, there is a playful cushion of anise-seeded black fruit that says 'drink me now!', and rightfully so, alongside roast beef, and preferably after a decant. Medium bodied (13.5 percent), this blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc and petit verdot certainly sits in the savoury side of the southern Okanagan. This dry and cherry-red coloured red showcases a complex nose releasing woody, spicy, fruity and vegetal scents. You will be charmed with this medium-bodied wine revealing a broad texture, fleshy tannins and a medium finish.

Aromas of vanilla, red berries and chocolate.

In keeping with classic Bordeaux tradition, Pétales d’ Osoyoos represents the second wine of Osoyoos Larose. The wine displays a deep ruby colour with a complex nose of red fruits, pepper, caramel and vanilla notes. The mid-palate shows complex layers with raspberry, cherry and toasted flavours. The finish is long and smooth with ripe tannins, elegance and finesse. Best to drink within four to five years.

Perhaps the most Bordeauxlike of any of BC’s many blends (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot), this wine boasts very good depth of red and black fruit on the nose with notes of raspberry, spice, chocolate and vanilla with a slight mineral edge. This is a nicely restrained wine that shows a seamless balance of fruit, acidity and tannin.
