Tasting note
Founded in 1875, Santa Carolina is one of Chile's most historic and best-loved wineries. Carignan is native to the South of France, where it is used as a blending grape, but it is finding new life in both blends and single varietal wines here in Chile. This example is finessed with florals, plus nicely articulated black fruit and spice tones. A great choice for lamb or steak. (Vintages panel, July 2016)
Its appearance is ruby red with a purple hue and the wine is bursting with aromas of blackberries and blueberries mixed with violet, floral and earthy notes. On the palate it’s complex and juicy, with flavors of rhubarb jam, fruit flesh, and flinty undertones. It has round tannins and a well balanced acidity.
