Tasting note
Cabernet blend, not to be messed with. It's stern, tannic and warm. Something I like about this wine is that it rolls out the punches and lets you deal with them; it's an unapologetic style of wine. It's beefy, curranty, toasty and substantial, with dusty/leafy cabernet characters as afterthoughts. Just watch those tannin unfurls. Just feel the grunt of it. The press release accompanying the wine describes it as 'floral and elegant'. That's about the last way I'd describe it. Drink: 2018-2029. Score - 93. Cherry-red in colour, this red boasts a intense nose exuding woody, empyreumatic and fruity aromas. Discover this full-bodied wine expressing refreshing acidity and offering a broad texture and firm tannins. It also unveils a intense mouthfeel that leads into a medium finish.
Shotfire Quartage is a monster on release, featuring lifted aromas of cassis, plum, dried thyme, subtle eucalyptus and spicy oak. Firm tannins are balanced with generous fruit and elegance. This Bordeaux blend has it all. It is full bodied, framed by French oak and silky tannins. Perfect for prime rib or grilled lamb.
