Tasting note
Mocha-coffee goodness wraps around black fruit and smoke aromas. Full-bodied and smooth with a nice grip. Decant for a 1 hour. The name Toasted Head derives from toasting of the top and bottom wooden circles of the oak barrel (by fire) to yield a toastier taste than just toasting the barrel sides or staves. This wine is usually aged for 18-20 months in French and American oak. There's a great grip (and growl) in this robust, chest-beating red for wild game. Pair with: barbecued gourmet sausages, avocado and papaya salad, Asian chicken salad, autumn hodge-podge, pork tenderloin. Drink: 2013-2016. Score - 91. This dry purplish red coloured wine features intense woody, empyreumatic, spicy and fruity scents and offers a broad texture as well as fleshy tannins.
