Tasting note

The 2012 Rapsani Reserve is the the typical formula and field blend, roughly equal proportions of Xinomavro, Krassato and Stavroto, aged for 12 months in a 70/30 blend of used and new French oak. It comes in at 13.4% alcohol and is sourced from a higher altitude zone than the regular Rapsani. This is so young, fresh and flavorful that it has almost a Beaujolais-esque intensity of flavor. It is wonderfully delicious. Once past the sexy fruit flavor, there isn't much real concentration, but this has good structure, a backbone and a graceful feel. It is a lot of wine for the money. If it pulls in some of that oak, it might even improve in the cellar. It drinks pretty well now, though. Drink Date: 2016-2023. Score - 89. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016)
